I'm not sure if it's just me but it seems like all the swatches for the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters on Pinterest always show these colors that never exist. Either I was too late to the boat, or lived in the wrong country or who knows. But the colors always seemed like The One! I checked store shelves and the website all the time but always came up short. But then one day, on a whim, per usual, I picked up one.
Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie #50 $6.50
This single tube of lip butter changed my entire winter experience.
Instead of chapped, dry, dull lips, I used this lip butter as my lip balm and it kept my lips smooth and soft and chap free! Not only that, the sheer wash of color brought life to my dull winter skin. It was a miracle!
More than all that goodness, it was a miracle that I picked a good color on the first try! Unheard of!
The color is Berry Smoothie, so it's not a very typical berry color, it's more soft rose colored.
It's a very versatile color on so many skin tones.
Same swatch at a different angle shows that it's got a lot of sheen to it as well, but not super glossy. It's also very sheer but you can build up the color to a light level. But the sheerness makes the color really wearable for all occasions.
This Lip Butter is like the ketchup of lip colors. It goes with everything. It compliments perfectly my sleek cat eye liner. It holds up wonderful with a full smokey eye. It even works on those days I've run out with nothing but tinted moisturizer and sweats on.
I would buy this again just for the lip balm factor alone. It makes my lips keep great. Correction. It made my lips feels great. I used it so much that I went through an entire tube.
This is all that remains.
I have never in my life gone through a lip color from beginning to end. This is quite an achievement for me. Until now I thought you had to have at least a mom status to work your way through a whole tube but I busted through that myth months ago. Maybe that's why I've held on to this sad tube, as a trophy.
Eventually I will get another tube of this. In the meantime I'm working through some other colors. Ya know....sewing my wild lipstick oats before I settle down with a newer model.
* yes, this is a Honey Boo Boo quote. Let's not get into why I know this.
