The 90's. They are officially upon on us like a bad Gap perfume spilled on a Columbia House order form.
But really, the 90's never left. Not for me. I essentially dress the exact same way just better fit and patterns. And now I have the skills to tackle and tame my mane. Growing older does have it advantages. Like seeing the comeback of an old favorite!
I all but forgot Jane existed. But when I saw the words it all came back. The quintessential 90's makeup. The new age no nonsense packaging with the on trend purple and teal accents. I still remember the bullet shaped lipsticks and how they smelled like some old candy and crayon all at one time. I remember standing in front of that display at the drugstore for hours agonizing over which eye shadow to buy and which blush. And I'm more than positive I went through every single type of foundation and powder they had. I still remember what the compact looked like. It had a teal ring.
I was determined to make Jane Cosmetics work for me. Why? Because they weren't your regular cosmetics. They were doing something cool. something now. They had colors for more skin tones! And bright colors! No old lady stuff and no kiddie stuff here. This was for me. This was for the cool kids.
At least, that's the magazines had me believe.
I can't remember any item of the line every truly working for me but something about it makes me miss it. So I was really excited to hear that Jane is BACK! and is also selling exclusively at Ulta!
Inspired by flowers and the tagline, Confidence comes in many colors, the line is now directed toward the vibrant colors in nature and how they come together to become something new. In the same idea, the company has turned it's focus on giving back to those to give and create positive forces out in the world. Jane wants to empower these women who are striving to do good and in an old sense, bring closer the idea of looking good and feeling good and how that translates into doing good.
The packaging has also been switched up to not only reflect the idea of empowering women, but using their very images. Each woman, holding a flower, is a woman who is honored for giving back to her community. Jane calls these Friends Of Jane. This select group is a diverse women impact the world in positive ways and Each woman's story can be found on the website, along with their favorite Jane product.
I can't wait to get my hands on some of this stuff! I hope I love it even more now than I did back then. And I hope that this time Jane sticks around this time and that their new business motto inspires a new set of women to go on and do meaningful things.
Welcome back, Jane! I know it's been a while, but I think you'll fit in just fine!
