My Current Skincare

I've spent the better part of my life dealing with my skin issues. Breakouts, dryness, tan lines etc etc etc. I've tried hundred, if not thousands of products over my lifetime to help out various ailments of my skin. I've battled cystic acne, peeling, rashes, eczema, and a list of other things I can't even remember currently. At various times my routines have served me well but I get bored with them and try out something new, only to be left in my bathroom cursing myself for ever giving up my tried and true routine and spending the next few months  trying to get my skin to cooperate once again.

In the past I have gone through routines with, what seemed like, endless steps for my face. Potions and toners and pads and serums.  But in the end I craved a wash and go routine. Something simple that I could get through airport security without getting put on any lists of doom.  The closest I've ever come to that dream routine has been my current set of 'tools'.

Here is it folks. My daily routine.

1 Cleasner; Cetaphil
1 Day Lotion;  Neutrogena Deep Wrinkle SPF 20
1 Night Lotion; Neutrogena Deep Wrinkle Night
1 Eye Cream; ROC Eye Cream

The Cetaphil is actually a rather new addition to my routine. I switched from Neutrogena Deep Clean Cleanser, to the Cetaphil at the end of March after a nasty bout eczema. The Cetaphil has been great and I wish I had begun using it a long time ago. It's simple, gentle and does the job with a price I can't beat.

Neutrogena's Deep Wrinkle line I've been using for just over a year now after doing much research on retinols and it's benefits. I have been loving the products from the start. The lotions contain OTC retinol, so not much, but enough for what my skin seems to need. The retinol in these tubes have done amazing things for my skin. My skin feels smoother, softer, and what adult acne I was getting has been tremendously diminished since using this line. From time to time, and from stress to stress, I still get some blemishes, but these lotions clear everything up in rapid time and seem to really help the scars I get from the tiniest of blemish, disappear rather quickly. My skin scars so easily and for a ridiculously long time. I've noticed that these products cut that time down by about 75%. I can't say they will do that for everyone, but I've definitely noticed that on myself. Plus, the day cream has SPF 20 and I'm ALL about spf's....but I'll get to that another time.

When I began using the Neutrogena products I was also using their eye cream, but switched to the ROC eye cream recently after not being able to find the Neutrogena on shelves anywhere. I've used the ROC eye creams in the past and liked them so I gave this one a shot again and I've found that I like this one much more.  I need the smallest amount possible to really hydrate my entire eye area and I like it because I've seen my eye area look brighter and not noticed my wrinkles as much as I did before. But most of all, this eye cream doesn't make my eyeliner slide around and that is a major plus for me.

I've been toying with the idea of trying out Bare Escentuals Glow Pads for my face, but I'm nervous about putting my skin through the equivalent of a round of bare knuckle boxing....but I'm still toying with the idea....

as for my the rest of my dry skin...

Yup, that's all. The St. Ives is amaaaazingly hydrating. In a way I can't even describe.  It's also the cheapest thing you could possibly buy in the body wash section. For a person like me, with eczema prone skin, this is a miracle wash, but I'm not sure it would be for everyone, especially in the summer. But for me....I could hug this bottle!

The Gold Bond lotion has also been really great for me. This is my first bottle of it but I will definitely be repurchasing this when it's out.  The biggest issue of my skin is always the eczema I get very easily on my shins. This lotion has kept my legs feeling and looking pretty great. Usually the heavy duty lotions are far too heavy for the summer months but this one soaks into my skin nicely and doesn't make me feel weighed down in grease at all. Well done Gold Bond, well done.

So this is my current routine. This is subject to change.  Although my head tells me not to stray from these products, the bright colors of the beauty aisles in the drug stores and the glossy pages of Allure and other magazines tell me otherwise. So soon enough I will try out new products, or revert to some old ones to see if I might like them again. But instead of keeping all my findings and unproductive research to myself ( or in emails to friends who are sick of my beauty emails) I shall blog about it so the world, you, can read about it.
